I wouldn't necessarily recommend any beginner do any skill training unsupervised for just this reason. Using a webcam (or even a smartphone - so many of them have video capabilities) is a great idea. You can be doing mae geri for 60 seconds of every hour, but without feedback are you sure that you're hitting it right?
